Fall Harvest - Optimizing Your Health

Fall Harvest - Optimizing Your Health
Posted on

In Chinese Medicine, fall represents organization, protecting your boundaries, and focusing on your internal state. Moving from the expansive nature of summer to a more contractive nature in fall, it is a great time to cultivate mind and body and become introspective.

The fall season is associated with the lungs and large intestine, which represents taking in the new (lungs) and being mindful of releasing the old (large intestine).

Get cozy this fall season with warm, nourishing foods, practice letting go, organize and declutter, and enjoy the slower pace that this season has to offer.

Water Intake

It’s recommended that you consume half your weight in ounces of water. For example, a 150lb person should consume at least 75 ounces of water per day or 9 cups. Proper hydration will combat autumn dryness and help protect the lungs and respiratory system from viruses and bacteria.

Drink water 30 minutes before a meal to avoid diluting digestive enzymes.

Immune Defense

Fall is the ideal time to maintain a healthy robust immune response with the daily use of Mushroom Tonic and Sinus Guard. Continue using daily through the fall and winter seasons. You can take both of these together.

Use of a nasal rinse like the netty pot will keep the sinus passages clear and moistened.

For vitamins, daily Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and Zinc will help keep your immune system healthy.

Viruses, Fall Colds and Flu

Have on hand and use Throat Zap at the first onset of any feeling of illness such as sore throat, achy, headache, fever. Continue using until symptoms are resolved or if symptoms move into:

Sinus congestion/infection: Use Super Sinus until symptoms resolve.
